Welcome to 232-HELP/211, a comprehensive Information and Referral (I&R) Center. Feel free to explore our site and learn more About Us and I&R . Our web site is home to Acadiana Resources , 232-HELP/211's searchable database of more than 1,500 health and human service agencies serving Lafayette, Acadiana and beyond. In addition to information and referral, 232-HELP/211 also operates many in-house Programs ; maintains five automated tape Libraries and a resource library with videos, brochures and many Publications; and keeps the Acadiana Community Bulletin Board . Vial of Life - A life saving program sponsored by 232-HELP/211, Lafayette General Medical Center, Cajun Area Agency on Aging and Acadian Ambulance.
Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with 24 hour on-call services. We are located at 1005 Jefferson Street in Lafayette, Louisiana.
2-1-1 enables people to get help or give help.
2-1-1 offers information to individuals, families, and government agencies on on a broad range of services, including rent assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health resources, child care, after-school programs, elderly care, financial literacy, job training programs; and where gaps in services may be. Specialists at 2-1-1 centers facilitate thousands of volunteer hours and direct donors to locations where their gifts may be most needed and appropriate. 232-HELP/211 is one of six 2-1-1 Centers which make up the Louisiana 2-1-1 System.
The economic impact of 232-HELP/211 call center’s in-house programs, alone, is over $5,397,000!
Following the Katrina and Rita disasters, FEMA issued a study titled, “2005 Hurricane Season After-Action Report,” in which it both recognized the accomplishments of 2-1-1 and made a strong recommendation that states should move forward on statewide 2-1-1 implementation:
"[We] encourage states to establish a 2-1-1 telephone system [like those in Texas, Louisiana and Arizona] from which victims can get shelter information, where [Disaster Response Centers] are, what the hours are, locations and telephone numbers."
