Dr. Hackett and his experienced staff at the Animal Health Clinic of Baton Rouge, specialize in compassionate veterinary care in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Animal Health Clinic has the latest and most innovative equipment ensuring superior care for your pet.

Animal Health Clinic recently received its fifth accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). From anesthesia methods and contagious disease protocols to dentistry and urgent care, AAHA accreditation represents an elite group of veterinary practitioners.

Since 1983, Animal Health Clinic has voluntarily achieved the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association, qualifying it as an AAHA Hospital Member. Animal Health Clinic was re-accredited in May of 2008 for another three years. The standards set by AAHA achieved by Animal Health Clinic pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods, and management. The purpose of the American Animal Hospital Association is to enhance the abilities of the veterinarian to provide quality medical care and ensure standards of excellence in examination facilities, surgery, medical records, diagnostic services, dentistry, anesthesia, continuing education, and much more. When your pet receives care from Animal Health Clinic, you are assured that it is receiving the very best.

At Animal Health Clinic, we know when you place your pet in our hands, you trust us to provide the best possible care. That's why we recommend pre-anesthetic testing prior to placing your pet under anesthesia, which reduces the chances of complications. In doing this, we'll obtain a complete history and perform a detailed physical exam of your pet. A healthy result, while not a guarantee, does provide added peace of mind that anesthetic risk is minimized. In short, pre-anesthetic testing helps us better care for that important part of the family...YOUR PET!

Our full-service veterinary hospital provides expertise in each of the following areas:

- Full dental service from routine to general maintenance to advanced procedures.

Meet The Doctor
Dr. C. B. Hackett, "Brother," was born in Lake Charles, La., and soon after that moved to Baton Rouge. His interest in becoming a veterinarian began at an early age while spending his summers working with cattle in Cameron, LA. He graduated from University High School and completed his pre-vet work by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU. Since there were no schools of veterinary medicine in this area at the time, he attended Oklahoma State University. In 1967, Dr. Hackett received his DVM from Oklahoma State. He then spent two years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Blytheville, Ark. He returned to Baton Rouge, where he has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 35 years.

Dr. Hackett is a highly respected and recognized veterinarian within his profession as evidenced by the following: recipient of the Upjohn Award for proficiency in Veterinary Clinical Medicine, a member of the Alpha Psi Veterinary Fraternity, past president of the Baton Rouge Area Veterinary Medical Association, member of BRAVMA, Veterinary Orthopedic Society, Louisiana Academy of Veterinary Practice, and the American Animal Hospital Association.

Dr. Hackett's special interests include veterinary dentistry, internal medicine, endoscopy, ultrasound, and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Hackett enjoys cycling, fly-fishing and spending time with his wife, Edith, and their three grandchildren, William, McCall and Thomas. He is also an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
