Celebrating his 64th year in the hat business in 2010, third generation hat man Sam Meyer carries on the 116-year-old family tradition of providing fine hats and caps for New Orleanians and visitors at one of America’s finest hat stores.

Located Downtown at 120 St. Charles Avenue just off Canal Street, Meyer the Hatter is surrounded by all that makes New Orleans rich in culture, history, and style. Our store is within walking distance of the French Quarter, the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans Arena, the Warehouse District, the Morial Convention Center, and most Downtown hotels.
Take a ride on our historic streetcars to come see us. The St. Charles Ave. streetcar is in service from Canal St. to South Claiborne Ave. uptown. The Canal St. streetcar travels from the Mississippi River to the cemeteries at City Park Ave.
During Carnival season, you can even catch some beads and doubloons while watching a Mardi Gras parade right in front of our store, as we are located on the traditional St. Charles Avenue parade route. Mardi Gras will be on March 8th, 2011.
